Advertise with the Harvard Satyrical Press (Back To Top) www.harvardsp.com

The Harvard Satyrical Press (HSP) is a non-profit student organization at Harvard sponsored by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate Student Council, and is the only official graduate student run comedy magazine at Harvard. By advertising with HSP, your business will have an opportunity to reach a large number of undergraduate and graduate students for a reasonable price. We are primarily a news format satire magazine, inspired in many ways by The Onion (www.theonion.com), and we seek to publish consistently funny satire, relevant to both the Harvard community and the world at large. We place strong emphasis on the graphic design aspect of our publication, and with our visually engaging, attention grabbing format, and our publication distributed free to the Harvard college population personally by our staff, your advertisement will have a chance to reach a substantial readership, and will do so more effectively than for many other pre-existing publications with significantly more expensive advertising rates.

Distribution (Back To Top)

In order to reach a large audience around campus, issues of the Harvard Satyrical Press are distributed for free personally by our staff to the Harvard undergraduate and graduate student community. To reach the undergraduate community, we distribute copies to the 9 River Houses, the 3 Quad Houses, the Science Center, Loker Commons, and all 13 freshmen dorms in Harvard Yard. In addition, we reach the graduate community by providing copies to the distribution centers at the Harvard Law School, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Education, the Graduate School of Design, the Kennedy School of Government, and the Harvard Medical School. But it doesn't stop there. We work to insidiously leave copies in the lounge of every academic department on campus, in the Graduate student dining hall Dudley House, in every lounge in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Dormitories (Child, Richards, Perkins, and Conant Hall), and (with permission) in local coffee shops and newsstands in the Harvard Square area such as Out of Town News and campus restaurants such as the graduate student run Café Gato Rojo. Our high quality printed issues are visually engaging and substantial, and consistently remain in circulation longer than other daily or weekly publications. As this type of ubiquitous and long lived coffee table and lounge reading material, the effective number of Harvard Satyrical Press readers will far exceed the total number of printed copies.

For the upcoming Fall 2005 issue, we plan to print 2,000 copies and distribute them in late October 2005. We now print a full issue every Fall and Spring semester, and eventually plan to distribute a professionally printed anthology compiling the archives of our first 2-3 years of original work.

Advertising Options (Back To Top)

Simply provide us with a proof, or even just a basic idea, and our graphic design staff will take care of the rest. If you have a ready made ad, please send proofs for your advertisements, preferably in JPEG or Photoshop (.psd) format (minimum of 300 dpi). However, if you are interested in having us create the ad, send ideas and basic information for our graphics staff to work with to:

Allowing us to make the ads offers several advantages. Your advertising staff saves time, and you guarantee that the ad will be funny, entertaining, and fit in seamlessly with the content of the magazine. Generally, advertisements that go with the spirit of a comedy publication are more effective, and are read with as much interest as the main content itself. We also regularly include fake advertisements in our printed issues and on the web, which encourages readers to read all ads, including your own! In any case, you have final approval on the ad content

Quarter Page, Half Page, or Full Page Advertisement

The easiest and most inexpensive way to reach thousands of readers in the Harvard community.

Insert

With an insert ad, if you have flyers, menus, or coupons, there is no more reliable or economical way to have them created, printed, and distributed around campus than through the Harvard Satyrical Press. We will include no more than one, folded insert placed in between the front cover and first page in our publication, and anyone opening the issue will be guaranteed to see your advertisement.

Back Cover

By choosing to advertise on our back cover, your advertisement will be highly visible throughout the undergraduate and graduate campus community, and will effectively reach thousands of people even if they never open the magazine. Our back cover will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

*Web Sponsors Page

As a small perk, all advertisers who place ads in our magazine will be given a space on the Sponsors page of our website for one year. The link to the Sponsors page is be displayed prominently in the upper right corner of our home page, where we ask our readers to "Please Check Out Our Sponsors!" We have a "Find the Fake Sponsor" contest, with prizes, which encourages people to read the whole list. The Sponsors page itself will have your business name and logo, and a link to your website, if relevant.

We do not yet offer time block banner ads on our website, although we may do so in the future.
